How to capture the essence of India's fastest-growing payments app
The Challenge
PhonePe, processing 970+ million UPI transactions monthly, needed a holistic brand identity system that could adapt to their rapidly expanding universe of touchpoints. As India's most popular digital payment app, they required motion behavior and sonic approach that would capture their voice while maintaining consistency across millions of daily user interactions.
Our Approach
The Idea
We built the identity around "collective growth" and seamless financial freedom, expressing the energy and optimism of instant money transfers. The concept celebrated the joyous bursts of color and movement that represent smooth, confident transactions.
Execution
Working with Codesign Brand Consultants, we developed a comprehensive toolkit including logo refresh, "The Beam" flexible brand marker, motion guidelines, and complete sonic identity. The system featured 60-second mastertrack, logo signature, and app notifications designed to cut through ambient noise. Implementation occurred during late 2020 pandemic lockdowns.
