Dutch Graffiti Library x Centraal Museum

VHS vintage video footage from the collection of Dutch Graffiti Library.

For the Graffiti exhibition at the Centraal Museum in Utrecht we designed a video experience in collaboration with Dutch Graffiti Library.

In the video installation VHS you experience the atmosphere and presence of graffiti in the Utrecht and Amsterdam streetscape of the early nineties. Abstract, personal and authentic. Originated on the street and, retroactively, helped determine the museum landscape of today.

The installation is composed of hours of raw footage, recorded, collected and even put on VHS videotapes by Dutch Graffiti Library. The original atmosphere of the recordings has been preserved. In this way, the installation VHS also offers insight into the way in which a community documents and displays its own heritage.
