Bringing Cooperative Values to Digital Storytelling

The Challenge

Rabobank, a 125-year-old cooperative bank operating across 37 countries, needed to express its unique cooperative character through digital communications. Unlike traditional banks focusing on individual financial success, Rabobank's mission centers on collective achievement. The challenge was translating this cooperative philosophy into motion design that could work across diverse digital platforms and cultural contexts while supporting their "Growing a better world together" mission.

Our Approach

The Idea

We developed visual metaphors of collaboration, growth, and collective action that emphasized interconnection and shared progress rather than individual achievement. The motion design reflected Rabobank's fundamental belief in cooperative success.

Execution

The system was designed to work flexibly across cultural contexts while maintaining consistent messaging about collective impact. Motion elements supported communications spanning from local Member Council interactions to international rural innovation initiatives, working across Rabobank's diverse global operations.

Impact

Results
Teams across Rabobank's global operations adopted the motion language as a unified framework for expressing cooperative values across different markets and business units.
Cultural Resonance
The motion identity provided clear differentiation in competitive banking markets by emphasizing collective achievement over individual financial gain, helping audiences understand Rabobank's unique cooperative positioning.
